Video and voice calls

Talk to a buyer or supplier without leaving the conversation. Calls happen on Organic Forward's own meeting rooms, so there is nothing to install, no account to create anywhere else, and no link to hunt for.

Start a call

Open the conversation in Messages, then use the call buttons in the thread header (or Propose call times in the contact panel on the right).

  • Video call — opens a meeting room straight away and posts an invitation into the thread, so the other side can join whenever they see it.
  • Voice call — dials the phone number the other member added to their profile, using your own phone. If they haven't added one, we tell you and you can start a video call instead.

Join a call

Look for the Join call button in the conversation:

  • on the invitation message, when someone starts a call
  • on the Call confirmed card, once a time has been agreed

Calls open inside the messenger, in a panel over your conversation. You can pop the call into its own window with the small arrow icon in the top right, and End & close hangs up.

Meeting links only work from inside the conversation. Room addresses are not passwords — the portal authorises you personally for the one conversation you are part of, each time you press Join. Copying the address into a browser, or forwarding it to someone else, will not let anyone in. This is deliberate: it means nobody can sit in on your negotiation because a link leaked.

Camera and microphone

The first time you call, your browser asks for permission to use your camera and microphone. Choose Allow.

If you blocked it earlier, the browser will not ask again — you have to change it yourself:

  1. Click the padlock (or camera) icon in your browser's address bar.
  2. Set camera and microphone to Allow.
  3. Start or join the call again, so the browser applies the new setting.

While access is blocked you can still be in the call and hear the other side — they just can't see or hear you. A warning stays on screen until you dismiss it, so it can't be missed.

Agree a time instead of calling now

  1. In the thread header, choose the calendar action (or Propose call times in the contact panel).
  2. Offer up to three times and send them.
  3. The other member taps the one that suits them.

Both of you then get a Call confirmed card in the thread with:

  • Join call — opens the room at the agreed time
  • Add to calendar — a calendar file for Apple Calendar, Outlook desktop and anything else that reads invitations
  • Google and Outlook quick links for web calendars

You also get a confirmation email with the same invitation attached, and a reminder email about 15 minutes before it starts. Both of them link back to the conversation — that is where you join from.

Calls are 30 minutes by default in your calendar. Nothing stops you talking longer; it just keeps invitations tidy.

After the call

When you close the call panel, you can capture what was agreed in a few seconds: next steps and who owns them, price or quantity signals, documents requested, and the agreed follow-up date. It saves as Call notes in the thread, so both sides share one record of the conversation instead of two different memories of it.

If you would rather have help writing it, the thread's assistant can draft a follow-up message from the conversation and your notes. Anything it writes is labelled as AI-generated, and you can edit it before sending.

Privacy

  • Calls are not recorded and not transcribed. Nothing from the audio or video is stored — the only record is what you write into the call notes.
  • Between two people, the audio and video travel directly between your browsers, encrypted in transit. Our server in Finland handles only the connection setup.
  • Your name is shown to the other participant, as it is in the conversation.
